Happy Halloween!! While big sister is at school today, little sis and I are busy with some fun Halloween crafts. This peek-a-boo haunted mansion is a favorite from last year, so I thought I'd share!
You will need:
1.) 4 sheets of construction paper (black, yellow, white and purple)
2.) scissors (exacto knife is even better!)
3.) glue stick or white glue
4.) white colored pencil or crayon
5.) Halloween stickers
Start by drawing the outline of your haunted mansion on the black paper. When you're happy with your design, cut it out. Then, using either the exacto knife or your scissors, start cutting your doors and windows. Be sure to think about how you want each window to open before you start cutting!
Next, use your white colored pencil to draw the doors and windows onto the black paper.
To get the "lights are on" look inside the windows, cut a piece of yellow construction paper a little smaller than your mansion and glue it onto the black paper. Be careful not to glue the doors and windows shut!
Next, glue the mansion onto the purple paper, cut a white circle for the full moon and--voila! The hard part is done!
Depending on the age of your child, he or she will be able to help with different parts of the craft. Older kids can do the whole thing, but the younger ones may need your help with the cutting. My four-year-old was able to glue, draw the windows and put the character stickers inside the windows on her own.
That's all for today! Thanks for stopping by, have a happy Halloween and happy crafting!
